Week 17 British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Results 🏀

Final games of BUCS for the Westminster Basketball programme. What a season. 

🐲Westminster 1st (8-2) end the season with a convincing 102-77 win over Sussex 1st. The win means the Dragons finish with an 8-2 record, tied with Hertfordshire 1st. However, Westminster will stand in an overall second position due to the head-to-head and point difference.


🐲Westminster 2nd (6-4) defeat Varsity Rivals West London and avenge their loss earlier in the season! In a heated and close game, the Dragons finish on a win to end the season! 🐉🛡🔥

Congrats to Westminster 2nd Team Head Coach Piers Tang on a winning record in his first season back at Westminster as a coach.

🐲Westminster Dragons (9-1)  “NBA schedule” continues. Three games in the space of four days for the Dragons.

The Dragons dropped their first LMBL D2 league game of the season to BB Smurds, a small team in numbers but made up with playing experience from BBL, National League and BUCS programmes. Westminster struggled to get anything going in the 1st half and BB Smurds capitalised. Despite a late run in the 4th Quarter from the Dragons, BB Smurds comfortable saw out the victory 105-84.

Westminster would bounce back with a strong 128-67 win over Crystal Palace Foxes II at Harrow Sports Hall on Sunday (13th). Another slow start from the Dragons was soon forgotten as high shooting and pressure defense expanded the Westminster lead to another 100+ scoring win.

Monday Night Lights straight after the LMBL D2 game win against Crystal Palace Foxes II, the final game for the Dragons out of the busy 8 day period which saw five games played (including BUCS). This was an important LMBL Semi-Final clash with the famous Hackney White Heat, an experienced Premier seeded group with a history of success in the league.

In a physical and tough encounter, the Dragons took the 123-113 win and advanced to their first-ever LMBL Cup Final! Westminster defeated three LMBL Premier teams to advance to the finals this season (Met Lions, Hoxton Heat and Hackney White Heat).

Young Dominican Republic Guard Humberto Ramirez continues to impress since his addition to the Dragons line-up along with forward Dean Maxwell.
