Westminster had fun at the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) 3×3 2021 by London Universities Sports League (LUSL), claiming the title in a all Dragons final this past weekend at Ravenscourt Park! 🔥🐲

Group Stage
Westminster 3×3 1 topped Group A winning all 4 games (4-0) finishing with a total of 12 points, including tough wins over UCL and LSE.
Westminster 3×3 2 finished undefeated in the group stage (4-0) in Group B, which also had Westminster 3×3 3 (0-4). Impressive performances from the new Westminster freshman Marka Sy, Ben Butawan and Marley Opoku.

Knockout Round
ESCP who finished 2nd in Group C faced Westminster 3×3 2 in the semi-final. The team nearly caused an upset with the game going down to the wire. Tied at 13-13 with a few seconds remaining, Freshman guard Ben Butawan had a buzzer-beater winner, a put-back after Marka Sy’s layup failed to fall in. Westminster beat ESCIP 14-13.
The other bracket saw Westminster 3×3 1 valuable experience and confidence, defeating 2019-20 league rivals Kings College 15-8.
Dragons Final
The final saw Westminster 3×3 1 face-off with Westminster 3×3 2. The championship team of 2019-20 (1) will take on the new freshers (2). Westminster 3×3 2 played back-to-back heading straight to the final, it was cleraer Westminster 3×3 1 had the fresher legs and more eenrgy.
Led by Senior Guard Afrasyab Khalil scoring, Orestas Vasiliauskas aggressive finishing and defensive efforts from Philip Hambe-Manu – the experience of the championship team was too much for Westminster 3×3 2. Guard Ben Butawan’s key shooting from downtown was not enough to keep them in the game, with Westminster claiming an 18-10 final win. Lithuania guard Orestas Vasiluaskas added the exclamation point with a two-handed dunk to finish the game.
A great send off for our seniors Afrasyab Khalil and Philip Hambe-Manu who are now officially graduating from the University of Westminster this summer.
