Westminster 1st impress with BUCS Cup 64-79 victory over Sussex 1st


BIG CUP WIN for the Dragons! Westminster 1st walk away from the south coast with an impressive 79-64 victory over Sussex 1st to advance to the Last 32 of the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Men’s Basketball Cup!

Sussex University who are currently in 2A looked favourites to go through but the Dragons came out strong from the 1st Quarter, taking a 19-12 lead. Sussex showed heart and found their feet taking a small lead in middle of the 2nd quarter but Westminster controlled the game in the latter half and with hard work and composure, sealed a memorable victory on the road!

Dragons were led by a fantastic overall performance from Guard Atilla Ă–ztuncay who scored a career-high 37 points on his BUCS return, with Teo Psychidis dominating on the boards and also adding 22 points. Freshman PG Vlad Petrea contributed with key plays and scoring 9 points for the team.

The team advance to the Last 32 of the BUCS Cup and will take on old rivals University of East London 2nd Team in two weeks.
