🐲 Wednesday evening was filled with a close encounter between the two universities City 1st and Westminster 1st, who faced-off in competitive games last season. After a 19-19 1st quarter, the Dragons managed to pull to a seven-point lead going into the break 50-43 with good defense and transition offense.

The 3rd quarter was the same story, with both teams bringing both energy and intensity. The Dragons were slower to come out, however, closed the 3rd with an impressive 9-0 run, which gave the Dragons a pivotal 11 point lead going into the fourth. The last play included American guard Mylo Mitchell hitting a last-second three after an offensive rebound from Indian centre Paras Maan.

The fourth quarter Westminster showed their experience. Steals from guards Mylo Mitchell and Fernando Roman led to easy fast-break points, extending the lead and bringing the momentum with the Dragons. Defense was the deciding factor, as Westminster limited to City University to only 4 points in the fourth quarter, closing out the game to win 62-93.

Guard Mylo Mitchell had an impressive game to continue his excellent start with Westminster, scoring 41 points, adding 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Guard Afrasyab Khalil struggled from 3-PT (0-4) but still contributed offensively with 15 points. Centre Carlos Javier tallied another 10 rebounds, adding 8 points too. Off the bench, Orestas Vasiliauskas continues to provide the defensive energy with 6 steals.

The Dragons are now 3-0 to start the season, and looking in strong form going into a difficult November fixture list. The win capped off an undefeated October in all competitions (6-0) for the Westminster 1st team.
